Zong Xiao-bin, Zhu Jun, Li Yan, Zhang Yi, Zhang Shu-lian
2003, 27(4): 293-295,306.
Abstract:
Laser frequency splitting technology can be used to measure phase retardation of a wave-plate.With the wave-plate inserted into a laser cavity to split longitudinal laser, its phase retardation can be calculated by detecting the frequency differences between the same order or the adjacent order split longitudinal modes. No mechanical parameters but only the frequencies of optical beats need to be measured, and the measurement can be traced to the wavelength of the laser.Experiments prove that a resolution of 0.003° and a repeatability of 0.05° can be ensured. For a quartz quarter wave-plate of 1.5mm thick, the incertitude of the system is about 1′.

Abstract:
Laser cladding experiment of Ti+33%TiC was carried out on Ti-6Al-4V alloy substrate, then the microstructure of the clad layer was analyzed with SEM and its strengthening mechanism was discussed.Microstructure analyses show that the clad coating can be divided into three zones along the depth direction:clad, binding and heat-affected zones.TiC in the clad zone exists in the form of fine dendrites,Ti matrix filling among TiC dendrites play a role of connecting the TiC and transferring load,so the clad coating has been strengthened obviously.

Wu Jian-wei, Xia Guang-qiong, Wu Zheng-mao
2003, 27(4): 342-344,348.
Abstract:
Based on the propagation equation used to describe the normalized amplitude evolution in the fiber, the evolution of super-Gaussian optical pulse propagating in the single-mode fiber has been investigated numerically. The results show that for an incident super-Gaussian pulse with steep edges, the evolution of its shape, frequency chirp, and peak intensity are different from those for an incident Gaussian pulse. Its shape undergoes a variation from near-rectangular,multi-peak,and finally to single-peak;its frequency chirp is not linear;and its peak intensity increases at first, then passing a maximum, and finally decreases monotonously. And these evolutions relate to the shape and frequency chirp of the incident super-Gaussian optical pulse.
