Li Kelan, Zhang Shulian
1996, 20(2): 65-67.
Abstract:
The birefringent double frequency laser is a newly developed laser, its difference of frequencies is wider than convention double frequency laser,up to hundreds mophertz. It is important toselect proper frequency stabilization methonology, and the frequency stabilization methods suffer fromthe effecting of the gain curve properties. In this paper, the analysis on the characteristics of gain curveof a inside birefringent double frequency He-Ne laser is presented. Selecting the ratio Ne20:Ne22 canchange the gain curve. In terms of the experiments and calculating, the optimum ratio of Ne20:Ne22 is 53:47,and the gain curve has beter symmetry, the peak point of the curve can be selected to be the frequency control operation point.

1996, 20(2): 68-72.
Abstract:
This paper examined the boundary condition at the interface of two uniaxial media contained in Wollaston prism.and the general solutions of light propagation through the interface are obtained.Based on the analysis, the relationships among the propeties of transimission coefficient, outputangle and phase shift are examined. The results show that Wollaston polarizer can not only product theinterference pattern with high contrast and high resolution, but also hold the high image quality of axialray. So Wollaston polarizer can be wide used in imaging system, laser interferometer, laser polarizer.

Lu Jian, Ni Xiaowu, He Anzhi
1996, 20(2): 73-77.
Abstract:
According to aerdynamics, ignition process of the laser-supported-detonation (LSD)wave is analyzed and the expressions of the propagation speed, pressure and internal energy of laser-supported-detonation (LSD) wave are derived. The interaction of Nd:YAG laser beam and a pure Al targetplate is experimentally investigated with a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, and the series of interferograms of ignition and propagation process of LSD wave are abtained. The propagation speeds obtained from the theoretical calculation and experimental results are 2.54×104 m/s and 2.2×104m/s at the moment of 20ns time delay, respectively. The time variation curve of the propagation speed of LSD wave and the distribution of the electron desity in plasma are measured. These experimental results are use full to theresearch on the theoretical model of LSD wave.

1996, 20(2): 78-84.
Abstract:
(Nd,Tb,Ce):YAG crystal is a new laser material developed recently. In this paper, the comparission research on the laser output properties, for example laser output energy, beam divergence angle and beam quality factor M2, with other laser crystals, such as present Nd:YAG and (Nd,Ce):YAG crystal, is reported. The experimental results show that the pulsed laser effectiveness of (Nd,Tb,Ce):YAG crystal may not be lower than other crystal's, but the thermal distortion and the thermalstability of(Nd,Tb,Ce):YAG crystal are obviously better than other crystal's,under the condition ofblowing cooling. The crystal can be used in high repitation frequency laser.

Cheng Xiangyin, Guo Jihua, Yin Chunyong
1996, 20(2): 95-98.
Abstract:
The double frequency laser interferometer has been widely used in precisionmeasurement. When it is used to measure straightness, the Wollaston prism can not be moved out of thelaser beam.So it can not be utilized to measure axiality. In this paer a new method of stabilizing the beatfrequency of a He-Ne longitudinal Zeeman laser, in which 8098system is used, has been developed.Itcan also seek the maximum of frequency difference automatically,so this guarantees the frequency reproducibility. The maximum of frequency difference is about 600kHz.The change of the beat frequency isno more than 5kHzduring 5 hours. This stability makes it possible to measure the phase between reference signal and measuring signal. Therefore, he interferometer using this beat frequency stabilized HeNe laser can be used to measure straightness and axiality conveniently.

1996, 20(2): 99-103.
Abstract:
The temperature-dependent intensity formulas about the optical resonator with two phase-conjugate-mirrors (PCM) are bult up by using a band transport model and the coupling wave equa tion under the strong pumping condition in steady state. For PCM, there is a optimum temperature value and the resonator has the maximum output light power when the temperature is equal to the value. There are different optimum Pump ratio for PCMs under different temperature. In the experimental system, the optical ramator contains two PCMs made with Ce:LiNbO3 single crystal and a He-Ne laser. The experimental results are in agreement to theoretical analysis.

Symmetry of beamsplitting angle for uniaxial crystal prism
Huang Jiaying, Wu Fuquan, Li Guohua
1996, 20(2): 104-108.
Abstract:
Usually, the beam splitting angle of a Wollaston prism has no symmetry to the direction of incident light. According to the theoritical calculation,if a double Wollaston prism has the feature of high symmetry of beam splitting angle,it is necessary that the sum of the structure angle β1 and β2 of two Wollaston prisms is equal to 90 degree, and β1 and β2 are not identical. The theoretical analysis andthe experimetal results proved that the selections of β1 and β2bear no relation to light wave length and the refractive index of the crystal,so this method can be wide used in many optical systems.

Abstract:
The structure volume and energy transfer effieiency are the main design considerations of magnetic pulse compressors (MPC).Based on them, the analyses and comparisons of two optimal designs are given in this paper. It is also found that both of the total volume and loss of mognetic cores arenearly minimized for a given overall compression ratio by coupling a sufficient number of stages, eachwith a compression ratio of 2.
