Experimental research of laser shock processing brass

  • In order to study the effect on the properties of laser peened brass,a brass sample is processed with Nd:YAG lasers and its hardness,residual stress,roughness and texture are examined and analyzed.The experimental results show that its hardness can be improved up to 25% and the compressive residual stress can reach-200MPa~-250MPa.On the other hand,compared with the unshocked area,the surface smoothness and the microstructure have no remarkable change.
