  • In order to study uhe influence of elliptical birefringence on the polarization mode dispersion(PMD),the statistics of PMD with polarization dependent loss(PDL) is studied by using the polarization maintaining fiber(PMF) waveplate model and Monte Carlo simulations based on the elliptical birefringence.It is found that the elliptical birefringenceaffetcts the statistical distribution and mean values of PMD and the statistical distribution of PMD is the combination of Maxwell and Gaussian distribution.The obtained result is favor of the testing,compensation and system design of PMD.
