  • The transmission,reflection and phase properties of anisotropic thin films with columnar microstructures are derived from EM theory.Standard boundary conditions are imposed on resultant electric-field and magnetic-field vectors at interfaces.These matricial relations include multiple reflections while dealing with total fields.Calculation example is presented for a special case of isotropic-biaxial-isotropic system,which should be the foundation of further research and the design of birefringent thin-film device.
