Investigation on mode characteristics of two-segment DFB lasers

  • Based on coupling-wave equations,a new formula about the mode discrimination of two-segment DFB lasers was obtained after applying the mean-field method.The mode characteristics and the wavelength tuning charact eristics were analyzed with the formula.The calculating results accord with the experimental data,which shows the effectivity of this formula to study the different modes of DFB lasers.
