  • The characteristics of gain spectrum of a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) are analyzed and the output extinction ratio of wavelength conversion based on cross-gain modulation(XGM) is studied numerically in this paper. Moreover,we investigate the causes of the degradation of extinction ratio,which provides the theoretical basis for improving the characteristic of wavelength converters.

Abstract: The characteristics of gain spectrum of a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) are analyzed and the output extinction ratio of wavelength conversion based on cross-gain modulation(XGM) is studied numerically in this paper. Moreover,we investigate the causes of the degradation of extinction ratio,which provides the theoretical basis for improving the characteristic of wavelength converters.
