Abstract: Based on the propagation law of partially coherent light,spectral changes of a polychromatic Gaussian-Schell model beam propagating in free space is studied.It is shown that the spectral splitting can take place in the near field,which is dependent on the spatial correlation and bandwidth of the spectral source and position parameters.The results are analyzed and illustrated with numerical examples.
