Abstract: This paper is devoted to analyze the problems of electric interconnection in VLSI,discuss the advantages of optical interconnection .The new developments of the field of optical interconnection, including guided optical interconnection and free space interconnection,are summarized.Finally, the present problems in study of optical interconnection and the way to solve these problems are suggested.
