1993, 17(3): 142-144.
Abstract:
The ZnWO4:Cr3+ signal crystal has been grown out by using Czochralski method. The fluorescent radiation from 800nm to 1100 nm of the crystal has been observed.Using a 5mm crystal rod,we obtain 400μJ laser pulse output at 0.95μm wavelength, pumped with a ruby laser at room temperature.

1993, 17(3): 145-149.
Abstract:
The output characteristics of a pulsed Ti3+:Al2O3 laser have been systematically studied.Ti3+:Al2O3 crystals used in the laser are provided by three institutes in China,The lasing characteristics of different crystals are compared to one another. The experimental results are roughly coincident with theoretical ones.
A new techuique for determining surface roughness in real-time by laser speckle
Wang Yawei
1993, 17(3): 150-153.
Abstract:
A new method for determining surface roughness in realtime is proposed in this paper, based on the processing of laser interference spackle. The measurement system includes a He-Ne laser source,a double Dove prism,a laser interferometer,a CCD detector and a data processing device.A rough surface is illuminated by two laser beams which are obtained with the Dave prism, interference spackle of the reflective laser beams from the rough surface can be acquired in CCD detector surface. With the data processing device, the surface roughness can be automatically determined. The experimental results show that the method is superior to other methods in measurement accuracy and range.

The signal-to-noise ratio in interference measurement
Song Zhengfang
1993, 17(3): 163-167.
Abstract:
Upon the basis of modern wave propagation theory in a random medium, the analytical expressions of the interferogram's signal-to-noise ratio are derived in this paper, starting off with second-order mutual coherence function.Several results for different condition are discussed. These show that the signal-tonoise ratio is dependent on the wave length, width of the wave beam, propagating distance, turbulent intensity, and et cetera.Calculations indicate that the correlation of the intensity fluctuation plaies an important role and the focused beam has not any predominance in comparison with the collimated beam. The interferogram's signal-to-noise ratio will tend towards a constant under a certain condition, which can be interpreted by the saturation effect of optical intensity fluctuation.
New development trend of laser-doppler-velocimetry
Zhao Jianxin, Sun Yusheng
1993, 17(3): 168-172.
Abstract:
Beginning in the end of 1960's,laser-doppler velocimetry (LDV) requiring high-time or high-space resolution and high accuracy with the help of laser technique.Recently, semiconductor technique, optical fiber and computer technique enable the optical system and signal processing of LDV to occur a fundamental change. This paper introduces these new developments of LDV,analyzes the progress trend in the future and points out the importance in scientific research and modern industrial production.

The study and progress in four-mode differential ring laser gyro
Zeng Ming
1993, 17(3): 173-178.
Abstract:
The Four mode Differential Ring Laser Gyro (FDRLG) has advanced principles and a special advantage of eliminating the lockin effect which occurs at low rotation rates. As a result of its great vitality,FDRLG has become the coming generation laser gyroscope of Litton System Inc.,one of the main companies of gyroscope in USA.The study and manufacture of FDRLG,conforming to the conditions of our country, have successfully gone through two stages of principle and experimental specimen machines, and now have got into engineering stage. The practical FDRLG will be made by us in the near future.Proceed from the principle and characteristic of FDRLG,this paper introduces the study and progress of FDRLG at home and abroad. Many of new schemes and new advances of FDRLG are especially analysed.

1993, 17(3): 179-184.
Abstract:
In order to achieve a higher green light output from a CW mode-locked frequency doubled Nd: YAG laser we have used a single lens telescopical cavity. In this paper the cavity configuration designing and dynamics performance researching of this laser have been conducted. The CW mode-locked frequency doubled green light output of 1.7W at a repetition rate of 200MHz has been achieved at 3.5kW single lamp input power and the amplitude stability of the pulse is less than 3%.
