  • The propagation properties of coherent and incoherent flattened Gaussian beams have been studied in detail. It has been pointed out that,to meet some requirements in practical applications,the partially coherent flattened Gaussian beam is a suitable choice,which can be realized by using the superposition of partially coherent finite Laguerre Gaussian modes or Hermite Gaussian modes.

Abstract: The propagation properties of coherent and incoherent flattened Gaussian beams have been studied in detail. It has been pointed out that,to meet some requirements in practical applications,the partially coherent flattened Gaussian beam is a suitable choice,which can be realized by using the superposition of partially coherent finite Laguerre Gaussian modes or Hermite Gaussian modes.
