  • Studies have been made on the influences of the second order derivatives of the amplitude and phase of the reflection coefficient on the Gaussian pulse upon reflection from the dielectric mirrors. Results show that the amplitude characteristics of the reflection may also be used to compress the pulse.Specifically, mirrors with a minimum reflectivity at the central frequency can be used to reduce the widths of less chirped pulses and those with a maximum reflectivity can compress pulses of larger chirping factors.

Abstract: Studies have been made on the influences of the second order derivatives of the amplitude and phase of the reflection coefficient on the Gaussian pulse upon reflection from the dielectric mirrors.
