  • The response characteristics of a fast response photomultiplier to Gaussion light pulse are analysed by means of its pulse response function.The analysis shows that the duration τp of input pulse is the fanction of PM time constant τ0 and the duration τt of observed output pulse.So it is necessary to use the formula τp=√τt2-τ02 to deduct the effect of PM time constant.In this paper,the using condition and limit of the formula are give.
