  • The microstructure of 4Cr5MoV1Si steel treated by means of CO2 laser rapid melting was studied.The results show that the melted region is fine extensional growing cellular crystals and cellular dendrite crystals.In the melted region,the distribution of alloying elements is homogeneous,all carbides are melted and inclusions are eliminated.The microstructure of the melted region is martensite and the amount of lath martensite is more than that of the steel usually quenched.
