Noncontact nondestructive detection of inner metal defects based on laser-EMAT technique

  • Theoretical analysis and experiments about laser-EMAT(electromagnetic-acoustic transducer) technique were carried out for the purpose of noncontact and nondestructive detection of inner defects of metal parts.The test slab contains a Ф3mm×30mm artificial hole about 40mm beneath the surface.The testing error was about 5%.The result shows that the laser-EMAT technique is suitable for noncontact and nondestructive detection of inner metal defects.
