Wang Yang, Lu Hua, Tan Jianguo
2003, 27(3): 175-177.
Abstract:
An analytical model to describe the temperature field was established for laser bending of sheet metal. In order to analyze the forming rule of the change to different parameters,a simulation software is programmed on laser scanning sheet metal along the line through the finite element analysis' software-ANSYS.The result shows that the bending angle decreases with the increasing thickness of sheet metal, increases with the increasing width of sheet metal, increases first and decreases afterwards with the increasing laser power, focus diameter or scanning speed if others factors remain unchanged. In addition sheet metal will bend deviating from the laser beam if there is a big thickness or a high scanning speed. Finally, the further academic analysis is carried out on the forming rule of laser bending of sheet metal.

2003, 27(3): 193-196.
Abstract:
The effect of the parameters on weld appearance quality during laser welding with filler wire is studied in the article. The appearance quality obtained by controlling the wire feeding speed is compared with that obtained by controlling welding speed during laser welding with variable gap-width.The result shows that it is better to control wire feeding speed for narrower gap-width,otherwise it is better to control welding speed for wider gap-width.To meet the weld appearance quality requirement during high accuracy welding process, the double MCU system based on 80c51 is developed, which can adjust the welding parameters by gap-width during welding process to assure benign weld appearance quality during laser welding with filler wire.

Abstract:

2003, 27(3): 220-222.
Abstract:
The focusing properties of Hermite-Gaussian(H-G)beams in passage through an aperture-lens separation optical system are studied based on the Collins formula. The axial intensity distribution and focal shift of H-G beams with even mode numbers are analyzed and illustrated with detailed numerical examples. It is found that the inverse focal shift and focusing without focal shift can be achieved by a suitable choice of the beam and optical system parameters. In particular, for the TEM22-mode H-G beam, there may be two equal axial maximum intensity points located on two sides of the geometrical focal plane, thus there are two focal shifts with opposite signs.

Abstract:
Influences on the FRSLs (fiber ring semiconductor lasers) properties of configuration parameter,i.e.,splitting ratio and coupling coefficient and residual reflectivity of SOA (semiconductor optical amplifier),have been examined using a simple traveling wave rate equations model of FRSLs,which is used to calculate threshold current, quanta efficiency and output power. The analysis confirms that there is an optimum splitting ratio to trade off between the threshold current, quanta efficiency and output power, whose behavior of an almost linear increase in single pass gain, maximal cavity gain and its stability with decrease average residual reflectivity. The threshold current to logarithm of splitting ratio meets linear relation. The simulating results verify that theory can give more accurate explanation to experimental phenomena.
