Gas drift induced by laser-produced plasma radiation
Ai Jun, Li Zaiguang, Popov A K
1992, 16(5): 257-261.
Abstract:
In this paper, the basic principles of the gaseous atomic drift induced by laser-produced plasma radiation (LPR) are discribed and with the using of the model of black body radiation, the formula of drift velocity has been deduced. The gas drift induced by LPR is of great significance for obtaining a strong monochorometic light source which is difficult to obtain with the traditional method.
Further research on optimum operating state of avalanche photodiode in application of laser ranging
Tang Zhonghua
1992, 16(5): 262-268.
Abstract:
Methods of determining optimum operating state of avalanche photodiod (APD) are reviewed.Based on the result of noise spectral density for Reach-through APD that was given by R.J.McIntyre, characteristics of optimum noise distribution ratio with which optimum operating state is determined in different background,is analysed, and experimental result is given.A practical method is given that is not only determining and keeping optimum operating state of APD but also holding false alarm rate (FAR) constant.
A new method for determination of optical constants of optical coatings
Zhong Qin, Zeng Ming
1992, 16(5): 268-274.
Abstract:
A new iteration and conditional optimization method for calculating the optical constants of nonabsorbing and absorbing singlefilm, based on the measuring the reflectance and transmittance at different incident angles,is given out.The problem of multiple solution which often happens in other method is well eliminated. The measuring results of several dielectric and metal thin films are given, and the reflectances and transmittance are measured by DFTR-meter.
Microstructure and the scattering properties of solid-phase mixed thin films
Hu Xiaodong
1992, 16(5): 274-277.
Abstract:
The solid-phase mixed(SPM) thin films with proper composition show the properties of reduction of optical scattering and improvement of microstructure. The effect is examined with transmission electron microscope(TME),X-ray diffraction analysis and angular scattering measurements.
M2-factor concept and laser beam quality control
Lu Baida, Zhang Bin, Cai Bangwei
1992, 16(5): 278-284.
Abstract:
The physical meaning of M2-factor concept and its applications in the laser beam quality control are analysed in detail. The generalization and some problems concering the M2-factor concept are discussed too.
Experimental investigation of two rods bonding Nd:YAG laser
Cao Sansong, Xu Shaoling, Han Kai, Wu Dazhi, Li Junshu
1992, 16(5): 284-287.
Abstract:
We have proposed a method of bonding two Nd:YAG rods together with adhesive in one heal of laser to improve the effectiveness and output power.By using this method,we have developed a long-pulsewidth Nd:YAG laser with output of 210 watts in average.

1992, 16(5): 287-290.
Abstract:
Based on the accurate measurement of the principle reflective indices, temperature coefficient of LiNbO3 crystal doped with MgO of 5% mole, the critical and noncritical phase-matching condition of the crystal are calculated in this paper. The calculation results are well fitted with experiments.
High brightness accelerator FEL
Huang Yunian
1992, 16(5): 290-297.
Abstract:
This paper is intended to describe a high brightness accelerator FEL(HIBAF) being developed by USA for strategic defense. HIBAF is far superior in high electron beam brightness to most other facilities. It can provide high quality laser beam of the wavelength from far infrared to ultraviolet. This paper briefly presents its operational mechanism and design idea of the beam line, discusses the calculation and experiment results of the system.

Sun Nianchun, Deng Chongjun, Li Yiping, Cheng Jie, Yang Shaolan, Wang Zhengxing
1992, 16(5): 298-301.
Abstract:
By using amplification of resonator as characteristic parameter, the thermal stability of unstable resonator is demonstrated in this paper.Based on the discussion, the thermal stability condition of the unstable resonator is also derived.

Chen Dezhang, Zhang Chengquan, Lu Yaxiong
1992, 16(5): 302-307.
Abstract:
This paper emphasizes the properties of a new type telescopic resonator with a porro prisms cross with a compound total internal reflection prisms. The experiments show that the peak output power of the laser is 1.3 MW at the pulse rate of 15 pps,the far field divergency angle is 0.6 mrad. The biggest misalignment tolerance angle is approximately 1 mrad in sensitive orientation.

Chen Zongli, Wang Denglong, Xu Guidao, Shi Langshun, Zhang Guisu, Qian Huanwen, Zhou Shuying
1992, 16(5): 308-313.
Abstract:
To appreciate the laser safety,we introduce a beam spot measurement method of laser long distance irradiation.According to the data of ocular injurious effect measured in laboratory, the divergency of laser beam, the energy distribution of laser cross section and the hazard probability of laser beam are calculatively analyzed.
