Free electron laser review
Yang Pei-gen
1987, 11(4): 1-6.
Abstract:
The free-electron laser(FEL)has emerged as the leading candidate fora ground-based laser weapon. This paper presents FEL research and develo-pment,particularly the radio-frequency FEL and the induction FEL activityin United States, and brief US Army's plans to construct large grourd-basedFEL experiment facility.

Flashlamp-pumped Cr3+:GSAG and Cr3+:GSGG slop efficiency,resonator design,color centers and tunability
J.DrÜbe, G.Huber, D.Mateika
1987, 11(4): 11-16.
Abstract:
Cr3+:Gd3Sc2Al3O12(GSAG)and Cr3+:Gd3Sc2Ga3O12(GAGG)are low fieldgarnets whfch perform flashlamp-pumped tunable laser action at room tempe-rature.We obtained 200 mJ output in the free running mode and a tuningrange from 750 nm to 800 nm from 2 inches long Cr3+:GSAG laser rods.
Method of designing telescopic-crossed prisms resonator
Wei Guang-hui, Zhou Bao-liang, Deng Ren-liang
1987, 11(4): 17-23.
Abstract:
A method of analyzing and designing the telescopic-crossed prismslaser resonator in repetitive mode is proposed in detail, the formulae andresults of designing stable and unstable resona or parameters are given.
Output spectrum of a branch-selected CO laser with the Au electrodes
Gui Zen-xing, Zhang Shun-yi, Shen Gui-rong
1987, 11(4): 24-27.
Abstract:
A sealed-off branch-selected CO laser with the Au electrodes is reported. The dependence of the output power spectrum on N2 concentration, pressureand discharge current has been investigated experimentally.More than hund-red spectral lines have been obtained in the region of 5.2~6.3μm,the out-put power of the strongest line among them was larger than 5 W.

Experimemt on ocular effect of GaAs laser simulator used in Air Force training
Hu Fu-gen, Zheng Jian-ping, Xu Jie-min
1987, 11(4): 28-29,63.
Abstract:
44 chinchilla rabbit eyes were exposed to Ga As laser simulator usedin Air force training at a wavelength of 0.900 μm,repetitive rate 10 kHz,5,10,30,60 min exposure duration. The results indicated that no ocularlesion was revealed. The measurements and calculations of exposure dosa-ges of that device were lower than laser maximum permissible limits ofintrabeam viewing.
Influence of the initial dye-transmissivity on singlepulse region and emission characteristics
1987, 11(4): 30-33.
Abstract:
In this paper, starting from the rate equations, the condition for single-pulse operation of passive Q-switched laser is derived simply. The influenceof the initial dye-transmissivity on single-pulse region and emission charec-teristics is investigated too.

The Gaussian beam and the design of the laser micro beam scope
Wu Shao-hao, Zhu Zheng-fang
1987, 11(4): 41-46.
Abstract:
This paper stipulates the common rule of sign about the parametersin the principal formulae of the Gaussian beam, which makes the formu-lae convenient for the calulation of the complicated optical path.In this paper, the main points of design of the laser microbeam scopeare analysed. In addition, the acguirement of the laser micro spot,theco-focal planes between focussing system and observing system, the selec-tion of the objective aperture, the influence of the exchanging the micro-scope objectives and discussed。The principles, methods and procedures of design of laser optics areconcluded briefly.
Laser device to imitate pistol target practice
Bu Chun-yan, Jiang Shan-qing
1987, 11(4): 47-49.
Abstract:
The design and principle of the laser device which is used to imitatethe pistol target practice are presented. The laser device can be convenient-17 and safely used, and is not limited by the envirenment.
